Pastor Ric Benson
Ric Benson is the Senior Pastor of Kenmore Baptist Church a large, multi-staff contemporary regional church, very much engaged with other churches in a Brisbane city-wide expression of faith.
Ric has vast experience in ministry including Bible College lecturing, conference speaker, trainer-educator, Christian counsellor and Director of Church Dynamics – the church consultancy arm of Campus Crusade for Christ. He has ministered to hundreds different churches and most denominations over the last 30 years.
Ric has a great passion to see the local church become the redemptive and prophetic community that God intended it to be, with a priority on reaching the lost and turning spiritual seekers into fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Ric’s interest in politics began at an early age with a father involved in Credit Unions, Cooperatives and a number of years in Latrobe Valley Victoria where unionism and political conflict were part of the way of life of coal miners and associated industries. Ric was also very much involved as a teacher in challenging the government of the day concerning their education funding, policies and procedures at a time when conditions for teachers were poor and industrial unrest high.
With a background of social justice from his father, from his involvement with Teachers Unions in fighting for better conditions, and being a member of the Salvation Army involved in prisons and institutions, and more recently as a professional Christian Counsellor and Pastor for some 30 years involved with the needs of society, Ric has a deep background interest and passion in politics, the political scene, and in influencing politicians in bettering our society.
